Ershad Ullah, the BNP-nominated candidate for Chattogram-8, was shot during a public rally on Wednesday around 5:15 PM. The incident occurred in Hamjar Bagh area of Panchlaish, Chattogram. Another person, Sarwar Babla, was also shot and is reported to be in critical condition.
According to preliminary information, due to a previous dispute, the group of top Chattogram gangster Chhoto Sajjad, who is currently in prison, targeted Sarwar Babla with gunfire. Sources say this attack may have caused casualties.
Amirul Islam, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police North Zone, confirmed that police received news of the attack on Ershad Ullah’s election campaign and were on their way to the scene.
