Bangladesh Police is set to introduce a new look for its members. Starting November 15, the long-awaited iron-colored new uniform will be launched for metropolitan and specialized units.
According to A.H.M. Shahadat Hossain, Assistant Inspector General (Media) of Bangladesh Police, the new uniform will first be worn by members of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), Highway Police, River Police, and the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
He stated that the new uniform will have an iron hue with a distinctive design. Initially, it will be introduced in the metropolitan and specialized units, and gradually extended to range and district-level police members.
It may be mentioned that as part of a broader reform initiative following the July mass uprising, a decision was made to change the uniform colors of Bangladesh Police, Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP), and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). The decision received approval on January 20 of this year.
The main objective of this change is to modernize the law enforcement agencies and present them as symbols of accountability and a new identity.
