Goats and materials have been distributed among the backward small ethnic groups living in the plains. Under the Integrated Livestock Development Project for the socio-economic and quality of life improvement of small ethnic groups in the financial year 2025-26, two growing Bakna goats, 1 sack of goat food of 25 kg, five floor mats, four pillars and two corrugated tins were distributed among 151 beneficiary families in the first phase.
These goats and materials were distributed on the premises of the Upazila Livestock Office organized by the Gazipur Sadar Upazila Livestock Office and Veterinary Hospital on Sunday (October 19) afternoon. Gazipur Sadar Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Mohammad Shahin Mia presided over the function and Agriculturalists Association of Bangladesh (AB) Member Secretary, Agriculture expert Shahadat Hossain Biplob spoke as the chief guest. Agriculture expert Amanullah Aman, Agriculture expert Belal Siddiqui, District Veterinary Officer Dr. Md. Alamgir Hossain, Salahuddin, Agriculture expert Sanaul Hossain Soni, Veterinary Surgeon of Sadar Upazila Office and Hospital Dr. S. M. Harun-or-Rashid, President of Gazipur Veterinary Students Association Safi Bin Amjad Alvi and others spoke.
Gazipur District Livestock Officer Dr. Nargis Khanam, Deputy Commissioner of Intelligence Department of Gazipur Metropolitan Police, Agriculture expert Ashok Kumar Pal (Khokon), Agriculture expert Dr. Bappi, Agriculture expert Ashraful Islam and leaders of small ethnic groups were present. Gazipur Sadar Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Mohammad Shahin Mia said, “151 beneficiary families from backward small ethnic groups in the plains have been provided with two goats each, along with necessary materials. This will enable them to become self-reliant. We will provide necessary medical services including taking care of these goats through regular supervision.”
