The fire at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport has been brought largely under control through joint efforts, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB).
In a press release issued at 5 p.m. on Saturday (18 October), Muhammad Kawsar Mahmud, Assistant Director (Public Relations) of CAAB, said, “With everyone’s coordinated efforts, the fire has been brought somewhat under control. Further details will be shared later.”
However, at the time the statement was issued, flames were still visible on the second floor of the northern section of the cargo village. Six fire service units were working there to contain the blaze.
Earlier in the afternoon, the fire had broken out at the airport’s cargo village, where 36 fire service units were deployed to bring the situation under control.
