The country’s major political parties, along with Chief Adviser of the Interim Government Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, have signed the historic “July National Charter 2025”, a milestone for Bangladesh’s democratic transformation.
The much-anticipated signing ceremony took place at 5:00 p.m. on Friday (October 17) at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building. The event officially began at 4:37 p.m. with the national anthem.
Members of the Advisory Council, leaders of various political parties, and members of the National Consensus Commission were present at the event. Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus arrived at the venue around 4:30 p.m., accompanied by Legal Adviser Asif Nazrul, Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, and Professor Ali Riaz, Vice-Chairman of the National Consensus Commission.
Among the political leaders on stage were BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed, Jamaat-e-Islami Naib-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, Nagorik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Ganasamhati Andolan Chief Coordinator Zonayed Saki, and Islami Andolon Bangladesh Presidium Member Ashraf Ali Akon, among others.
In addition, foreign diplomats stationed in Bangladesh also attended the ceremony.
After months of political dialogue and consensus-building, the signing of the July National Charter is being hailed as a new chapter in Bangladesh’s journey toward political reform, national unity, and democratic stability.
