The National Consensus Commission held an urgent meeting with political parties due to some disagreements regarding the implementation of the July National Charter 2025.
The meeting began at 6:00 PM on Wednesday (15 October) at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road, Dhaka, with Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus presiding.
Earlier in the afternoon, a meeting of the commission was held at the State Guest House, Jamuna, chaired by the Chief Advisor. Present at the meeting were Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz, members Justice Md. Emdadul Haque, Safar Raj Hossain, Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, Dr. Badiul Alam Majumdar, Dr. Md. Ayub Mia, and Chief Advisor’s Special Assistant Monir Haidar.
National Security Advisor Khalilur Rahman and Chief Advisor’s Chief Secretary M. Siraj Uddin Mia also attended the meeting. The main purpose of the meeting was to resolve differences with political parties and coordinate the process for signing the July National Charter.
The signing ceremony of the July National Charter 2025 is scheduled to be held on 17 October at the South Plaza of the National Parliament building.
