Sarjis Alam, chief organizer of the National Citizen Party (NCP) in the northern region, stated that there is no legal barrier to receiving the Shapla election symbol. However, if the symbol is not granted before the election, the party is prepared to take the matter to the streets or the courts.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Election Commission announced that NCP has fulfilled all the conditions for registration. Following this announcement, Sarjis posted on Facebook: “The Election Commission has stated that NCP is eligible for registration, so there is no objection in this regard. Thank you for stating this.”
Despite this, NCP’s position on the Shapla symbol remains firm. Sarjis further stated, “If the Election Commission, under the influence of any invisible force, engages in arbitrary or discriminatory actions against NCP regarding the symbol, it is unacceptable. Such behavior is entirely inappropriate for an independent constitutional institution.”
He also expressed hope that the Election Commission will not undermine its credibility or transparency ahead of the elections.
