In the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) election for director posts, the Election Commission has canceled three nomination papers, paving the way for Aminul Islam Bulbul and Nazmul Abedin Fahim to win unopposed from the Dhaka division.
By the submission deadline on Sunday at 5 PM, a total of 51 nomination papers had been filed. After scrutiny on Monday, three were declared invalid. Among the canceled nominations was that of Dhaka candidate Abdullah Fuad Redwan, leaving Bulbul and Fahim uncontested in the division.
Additionally, one nomination from Chandpur District Sports Association (Chattogram division) and another from Rajshahi Division Sports Association were also canceled. However, those whose nominations were rejected still have the right to appeal. The Election Commission will make a final decision after hearing the appeals.
Earlier, 25 candidates had submitted nominations from Category-1 (districts and divisions). These included 3 from Dhaka, 5 from Chattogram, 3 from Khulna, 4 from Rajshahi, 3 from Sylhet, 6 from Rangpur, and 1 from Barishal. From Category-2 (Dhaka clubs), 23 candidates filed nominations, while 3 others submitted under Category-3.
Although the election process continues formally, the cancellation of nominations in some divisions has ensured uncontested victories, reducing the intensity of competition in the race.
