Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has assured that round-the-clock security will be in place from the very beginning of Durga Puja celebrations.
On Monday (22 September), while visiting the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram in Missionpara, Narayanganj, he said this year’s Puja arrangements are excellent and there are no security concerns. CCTV cameras have been installed at the mandaps, and along with law enforcement agencies, volunteers will also be on duty. From 24 September, Ansar members will join the security measures.
He further informed that to ensure smooth celebrations, Tk 3.2 million has been allocated for various puja mandaps in Narayanganj, and each mandap has been provided with 500 kilograms of rice.
Highlighting that communal harmony will be further strengthened, the adviser said that instructions were given during meetings with Puja committees to maintain a festive and peaceful atmosphere throughout the celebrations.
Also present during the visit were DIG of Dhaka Range Rezaul Karim Mallik, Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Jasim Uddin, and other senior officials from the administration and law enforcement agencies.
