Discussions are ongoing regarding a possible merger between the National Citizens’ Party (NCP) and Gono Odhikar Parishad, confirmed Md. Rashed Khan, General Secretary of Gono Odhikar Parishad. He shared the information in a Facebook post on Sunday night (September 21).
Rashed Khan wrote that while positive talks are being held between the two parties about unification, efforts to derail the process are also underway. According to him, if the youth unite, a new political force will emerge in Bangladesh. However, he stressed that responsible behavior from leaders and activists of both parties is essential.
He further said, “Relationships are built on closeness and understanding, and progress comes through compromise.” Therefore, it is the responsibility of leaders and activists from both NCP and Gono Odhikar Parishad to implement this potential merger. Otherwise, many people’s aspirations will be shattered, and the public will view both sides as deceptive.
The former student leader also noted that Gono Odhikar Parishad holds a very positive stance on unification based on fairness and equality. At the same time, he urged party members and affiliated organizations to be cautious when commenting on social media.
