Nurul Haque Nur, President of Gana Adhikar Parishad, is heading to Singapore for advanced medical care. Following doctors’ advice, he will depart for Singapore on Monday morning (22 September).
The information was confirmed on Sunday (21 September) by the party’s office secretary, Shakil Uzzaman. He said Dr. Sajjad Hossain will accompany Nur during the trip. He also sought prayers and well-wishes from the people of Bangladesh for Nur’s recovery.
It may be recalled that on 29 August, at night, a clash broke out in Bijoynagar between leaders and activists of the Jatiya Party (Japa) and Gana Adhikar Parishad. As law enforcement intervened with baton charges to control the situation, at least 50 people, including Nur and General Secretary Rashed Khan, were injured.
Nur, in critical condition, was first admitted to Islami Bank Hospital and later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital on doctors’ advice.
