The dengue crisis continues across the country. In the last 24 hours, three more people have died from the mosquito-borne disease, while 473 new patients have been admitted to hospitals.
According to the latest bulletin from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the total number of dengue deaths this year has reached 123, and the cumulative number of hospitalized patients has risen to 32,501.
All three deceased were men, aged 48, 45, and 32. They were receiving treatment at Dhaka’s Mitford Hospital, Modern Hospital, and Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College in Gazipur, respectively.
Currently, 1,563 dengue patients are undergoing treatment across hospitals in the country, with 522 in Dhaka and 1,041 outside the capital.
The DGHS reported that July saw the highest number of hospitalizations this year—10,684 patients—with the highest monthly death toll of 41.
