Ahmed Al-Rahavi, the so-called Prime Minister of Iran-backed Houthi rebels, was killed in an Israeli airstrike. The attack, carried out on Thursday at an apartment in Sanaa, also claimed the lives of several of his close associates.
The strike targeted a location outside a secret Houthi cabinet meeting. Although Al-Rahavi had no international recognition, he had served as the “Prime Minister” for a year and was known as a close ally of Iran and Hezbollah, directly authorizing attacks against Israel.
Earlier, Houthi rebels had launched two drones toward Israel, which were successfully intercepted by Israeli air defenses. In retaliation, Israel carried out a massive airstrike within 24 hours, hitting key military installations and important Houthi facilities.
The operation was overseen by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz and Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu monitored the mission via a secure line.
This marks the first confirmed fatality among the top Houthi leadership, adding a new dimension to the long-standing Israel-Yemen tensions.
