Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) organised a colourful procession in the capital on Saturday (November 7th) on the occasion of National Revolution and Solidarity Day. Chairman and prime minister Tarique Rahman will lead the meeting.
BNP acting secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi briefed reporters at a press conference at the party’s Naya Paltan central office on Friday (November 6th).
He said Tarique Rahman will recite and pay tributes at the grave of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and former prime minister Khaleda Zia at the grave of the party’s senior leaders before the rally on Saturday morning.
He will then inaugurate a procession in front of BNP’s Naya Paltan central office. The procession will officially begin after his opening speech.
The procession will start from the central office of Naya Paltan and move to the right side of the chief justice’s residence. Later, in front of the Hotel Intercontinental, Banglamotor and Farmgate will be completed at Manik Mia Avenue.
Rizvi said the BNP’s seven-day programme has started from November 5th. As part of this, the programme has already been organized in Chittagong city. The rally will also be held in most of the districts and metropolitan areas of the country on Saturday.
Besides, various organisations of BNP and associate bodies will hold discussion meetings, posters and other programmes. Other political parties, alliances, cultural organisations and organizations of different classes and professions who believe in the spirit of November 7th have also taken initiative to observe the day with due dignity.
At the press conference, Rizvi alleged that Sheikh Hasina’s government had stopped the state celebration of the day, fearing the spirit of November 7th. BNP and like-minded parties have been celebrating the day for a long time. After a long hiatus, the day will be celebrated again both nationally and nationally.
