Dengue fever has increased in the country. Five more people have died of the disease in the last 24 hours. Thirty-four people were hospitalized at the same time.
This information was given in the regular notification of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday (September 1st).
The number of dengue deaths in the country has risen to 102 this year with five new deaths. Forty-three people died in August. Five more people died on the first day of September.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), dengue died in January, February 2, May 1, June 13 and July 36.
A total of 36 thousand people have been admitted to different hospitals in the country since January 1st this year. Thirty-four thousand people have returned home after treatment. Two thousand 683 people are currently being treated in hospital.
In the last 24 hours, 142 people were admitted to Dhaka North City Corporation area, 138 in Dhaka South City Corporation area and 298 in Dhaka outside the two city corporations.
The highest number of patients outside Dhaka have been admitted in Khulna division. Besides, 139 people were admitted to Chittagong, 121 in Barisal, 114 in Rajshahi, 87 in Mymensingh, 34 in Rangpur and five in Sylhet.
The increasing number of deaths and hospitalizations in the country this year indicates that the situation of dengue infection in the country will become more alarming.
