The head of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) of India, Parag Jain, arrived in Dhaka on a special visit at the invitation of the government to normalize bilateral relations between Bangladesh and India.
Just before he arrived in Bangladesh, he completed his visit to China, which is giving more importance to the visit in the context of regional geopolitics.
No official statement has been issued by Bangladesh or India regarding the visit, which was implemented with confidentiality and caution.
Parag Jain is leading the four-member high-level delegation at the invitation of the Bangladeshi authorities. Senior Indian officials Ashwin Mukund Kotnis, Rahul Negi and Shaibal Roy Chowdhury are accompanying him in the delegation. They landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Sunday afternoon on a regular flight of Air India. As part of the visit, they are staying at an elite hotel in Dhaka for the sake of security and strict confidentiality.
Porag Jain is not limited to the Secretary of State for External Affairs (RA); he is also the Special Secretary of the Special Protection Group (SPG) in charge of the security of the country’s prime minister and most important people. As a result, his visit is not limited to military or intelligence reviews, but also part of the highest political-level communication.
Political analysts believe that Parag Jain’s visit to China is very important as it was important just before coming to Bangladesh. The visit is expected to be part of an effort to maintain geopolitical balance in the South Asian region and reconstruction of Dhaka-New Delhi bilateral relations. Although the government has not been directly informed about the specific schedule of the talks, diplomatic sources have indicated that security, regional sustainability and strategic cooperation are taking precedence over the visit.
