Iran has launched retaliatory attacks on Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain in response to recent U.S. attacks on Iran. An explosion was heard in the early hours of Friday (July 17th) in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
At the same time, attacks took place in Kuwait and Bahrain, in the wake of which high alert was issued in countries.
According to AFP and Geo News, residents were ordered to stay safe as security risks increased after explosions in different areas of Doha. Qatar’s defence ministry said a missile fired towards the country had successfully intercepted the armed forces. The Ministry of Home Affairs later announced that the security situation had normalized and the immediate threat had been cut off.
Thirty-two enemy drones have been detected in the country’s airspace since early Friday, Kuwait’s defence ministry said. Spokesperson Colonel Saud Abdulaziz al-Atwan said parts of the destroyed drones fell into residential areas and damaged several buildings and structures, but there were no fatalities.
According to Reuters, some of Kuwait’s key installations have been damaged in the Iranian attack. Details of the damage have not yet been released. At the same time, air strikes were also issued in Bahrain. The Ministry of Home Affairs has urged citizens to stay calm and take shelter in the nearest safe place.
Iran’s semi-official Tasneem news agency said the Iranian military had targeted U.S. helicopters and intelligence surveillance aircraft at the Sakhi airbase in Bahrain.
The ongoing tensions in the Middle East have intensified. In addition to the regional security situation, new concerns have also been raised about global energy and commercial waterways.
