The amount of money deposited by Bangladeshis in Swiss banks has increased significantly again. According to the latest report of the Swiss National Bank (SNB), at the end of 2025, the deposits of Bangladeshi individuals and institutions in Swiss banks stood at 83 million Swiss francs, which is about Rs 12 thousand 512 crore in Bangladeshi currency.
This is the second highest amount of money in the Swiss bank in the history of Bangladesh. Earlier in 2021, the maximum amount of 87 million Swiss francs was deposited.
According to the report, in 2024, the deposits of Bangladeshis in Swiss banks were 58 million Swiss francs or about ₹8 thousand 843 crore. Deposits have increased by about Rs 3,669 crore in the space of a year, which is an increase of about 41 per cent in the period.
Statistics analysis shows that a huge amount of money was withdrawn from the Swiss bank in the next two years after a record amount of deposits in 2021. As a result, in 2023, the deposits of Bangladeshis fell to just one million Swiss francs. However, since 2024, deposits have started to rise again and it has reached the second-highest position in 2025.
However, the Swiss National Bank did not give a specific reason behind this unusual growth. As a result, new discussions between economists and analysts have started to raise the trend of depositing Bangladeshis in Swiss banks so fast.
According to experts, Swiss bank statistics also include legitimate and declared deposits of individuals, banks and various financial institutions. As a result, there is no scope to consider all this money as illegal or smuggled money. However, such a large wave of deposits is naturally visible.
