An important Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the United States and Iran to end the long-standing tensions between the United States and Iran.
U.S. President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pejeshkian have signed the agreement.
The main objective of the agreement is to end the U.S.-Iran conflict, enforce the ceasefire and lay the foundation for a lasting peace agreement. According to the agreement, the two sides will refrain from hostile activities and negotiate a final agreement within the next sixty days.
The important issues of the MoU include the re-normalization of international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, the framework of new nuclear negotiations on the nuclear program, and the de-escalation of regional tensions. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is expected to play a role in the implementation and verification process of the agreement.
