Country actor and playwright Ataur Rahman has fallen seriously ill. He was taken on life support on the advice of doctors as his condition deteriorated. His daughter Sharmishtha Rahman confirmed the matter on Monday (May 11th).
“The situation is very critical. Doctors said that the effectiveness of multiple organs has decreased. I urge everyone to pray for his health.”
According to family sources, Ataur Rahman’s health deteriorated rapidly after he fell at his home on Friday. He was then taken to a hospital in the capital’s Gulshan. In the initial observation, the doctors said he needed the support of the intensive care unit (ICU).
Later, he was shifted to a hospital in Dhanmondi as he did not have ICU facilities at the hospital. He was initially taken on life support while undergoing treatment there, but it was withdrawn if some improvement was made.
However, when his condition deteriorated again, he was taken on life support on Sunday (May 10th). Doctors said he is currently under close observation at the hospital.
The news of Ataur Rahman’s illness is deeply concerned about the cultural arena of the country. His colleagues, artists and fans are wishing him a speedy recovery on social media.
