Overall inflation has once again exceeded nine percent in the country in the space of a month. In April, inflation rose by 9.04 per cent in April to raise the price of goods in both food and non-food sectors.
This is according to the latest data from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) published on Wednesday. In March, where inflation was 8.71 per cent, it rose again by 9 per cent in April. The rate was 9.13 percent in February.
According to economists, 9.04 per cent inflation means that the goods or services that were available in April last year are being spent on the same period of this year.
According to the data, inflation in food products rose to 8.39 percent in April, which was 8.24 percent in March. At the same time, inflation in the non-food sector increased from 9.09 percent to 9.57 percent.
Inflation has risen in both villages and towns. In rural areas, inflation rose to 9.05 per cent in April, up from 8.72 per cent in March. On the other hand, in urban areas, the rate has increased from 8.68 per cent to 9.02 per cent.
Statistics analysis showed that inflation fell to 8.17 percent in October last year, but it continued to grow steadily. In November and December, it dropped to 8.29 per cent and 8.49 per cent in February, respectively, and in January this year, after reaching 8.58 per cent in January this year.
The rate of increase in wages has increased slightly. In March, where the wage growth rate was 8.09 per cent, it rose to 8.16 per cent in April. However, it is still low compared to inflation, and the pressure on the purchasing power of the common people continues.
