Bangladesh’s preparations for this year’s Hajj have reached the final stage. According to the government plan, flights carrying the holy pilgrims will officially start from April 18th and the return flight will continue until July 1st.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will formally inaugurate the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on the occasion of the inauguration of the Hajj program.
The first hajj flight will take place on April 18 at 12pm with 419 passengers on board for King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Dhaka. A total of fourteen flights are planned to operate on the opening day, including Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Saudia and Flynas.
A total of 78 thousand pilgrims from Bangladesh will go to Saudi Arabia this year. Of these, 4,565 will be carried out under government management and 73,935 through private hajj agencies.
According to the agreement signed between the two countries, Biman Bangladesh Airlines will transport 50 percent of the total number of passengers. Thirty-five percent of the rest of the passengers will be transported by Saudia and fifteen percent flynus.
Pre-Hajj flights will continue until May 21st. During this period, a total of 207 flights will be operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, including Biman Bangladesh Airlines, seventy-five flights to Saudi Arabia and three to Flynas.
The return flight will start from May 30th, which will run in phases until July 1st. According to the authorities concerned, all kinds of preparations have already been completed to ensure the transportation and management of the passengers as per the schedule.
