The government is considering partial changes in the country’s education system to deal with the impact of the energy crisis. Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has said that discussions are underway on the introduction of an integrated system of online and physical teaching at the school level.
Talking to reporters at the secretariat on Tuesday, he said alternative education system is being considered out of fear that the energy uncertainty caused by the global situation could last longer. In particular, the issue of bringing Bengali and English medium educational institutions under this plan is getting importance in the metropolitan area.
The education minister said that in the proposed system, classes and online classes may continue for certain days of the week and the rest of the time. Classes are also considered to be held six days a week to meet the shortage of lessons for the recent holidays and various reasons.
A preliminary survey in this regard found that about fifty percent of parents and students are supporting online education. However, the government believes that if the online system goes completely, there may be a risk of social and mental isolation.
The education minister said the matter would be presented at the cabinet meeting on Thursday. A final decision can be made after the discussion.
