The ‘New Bud Sports’ programme will be launched from April 30th as a new initiative to develop the country’s children and teenagers’ sports talents. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that the official journey of Sylhet will start and it will be expanded across the country in a phased manner.
Speaking at an event organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Prime Minister said the ‘New Bud’ programme, which started on Bangladesh Television in 1976 after independence, has long played an important role in the development of the cultural talents of the youth. The new initiative is being expanded to showcase the skills of sports that are hidden between children and adolescents.
In today’s world, sports are not only a matter of entertainment or bodybuilding; it has become a professional field. In this context, the government has also taken a plan to ensure long-term financial and professional stability for the athletes of Bangladesh.
The government has already taken initiative to introduce a structured salary system for athletes. Under this, regular sports allowances will be paid, which is considered an institutional recognition for the first time in the country’s history.
The government’s move is seen as an important step towards increasing professionalism in the sport. According to them, such initiatives will help the young generation to engage more in sports and strengthen the country’s representation in the international arena.
