The adjourned meeting of the first session of the 13th National Parliament has resumed after a 13-day break. The meeting began at 3 pm on Sunday (March 29) at the National Parliament Building under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Barrister Kaiser Kamal .
The session was scheduled to begin on March 12, but was postponed to March 15 due to the holy Eid-ul-Fitr and other government holidays.
Chief Whip of the National Assembly Md. Nurul Islam said that a detailed discussion will be held on the motion of thanks on the President’s speech in this session. Parliamentarians from the government and opposition parties will participate in it.
In addition, the session will include a scheduled question-and-answer session for ministers, the raising of public notices, and a brief discussion on those notices.
According to sources in the Parliament Secretariat, it has been decided to hold a total of 50 hours of discussion on the President’s speech. According to the schedule set by the Business Advisory Committee, this session will continue until April 30.
It is to be noted that, as per the customary practice of Parliament, the President delivers a speech at the beginning of the first session and after a general discussion on it, a motion of thanks is adopted.
