Amid the tense situation in the Middle East, Donald Trump has announced a further extension of the deadline given to Iran. He has temporarily postponed the previously announced military action to demand the opening of the Strait of Hormuz and set a new deadline until April 6.
In an interview, Trump said that Iran initially asked for seven days, but the United States spontaneously extended it to a total of 10 days. According to him, if the conditions set are not met, massive airstrikes targeting Iran’s energy and power infrastructure could be launched.
According to the US administration’s plan, the attacks on key Iranian facilities were supposed to begin on a previously scheduled schedule. However, Trump claimed that this decision was postponed due to diplomatic contacts and indications of some action from Iran.
He also said that Iran has taken some steps, such as moving its ships, which have been considered helpful in deescalating the situation. That is why Washington has decided to grant additional time.
According to analysts, the extension of the deadline temporarily reduces the risk of a potential military conflict and creates an opportunity for a diplomatic solution. However, if progress is not made within the specified time frame, the situation could quickly deteriorate again.
