The government has decided to appoint 2,701 constables to the police force as soon as possible. Salahuddin Ahmed announced this information after a view-sharing meeting at the Secretariat on Monday .
The Home Minister said that the appointment has been ordered on an urgent basis to effectively deal with the law and order situation and its implementation will begin soon. At the same time, he said that the firearms licenses issued during the previous government will be re-verified – it will be checked whether all the licenses were issued in a proper manner or not.
Expressing a strict stance on illegal interference in police work, he said that immediate action will be taken if anyone obstructs the legitimate activities of the police, regardless of political or social identity. However, he mentioned that there will also be monitoring to ensure that the police activities do not cause suffering to the common people.
