Tarique Rahman was sworn in as Prime Minister after winning more than two-thirds of the seats in the 13th National Parliament election . President Md. Shahabuddin administered the oath at a ceremony held at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building.
The event was attended by newly elected members of parliament, representatives of the interim government, and diplomatic guests. The presence of representatives from various South Asian countries, including India, Pakistan, and Nepal, added to the international dimension of the event.
The election marked the end of the 18-month term of the interim government after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government. The new cabinet’s full ministers and state ministers took oath in turn immediately after the Prime Minister’s swearing-in.
A new chapter in the country’s political transformation began with the swearing-in of this government led by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party with an absolute majority in the elections .
