Ahead of the 13th National Assembly elections, the interim government’s chief advisor, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has urged the countrymen to go to the polling stations with courage. In his address to the nation on Tuesday, he said that the vote is not just about forming a government, but is the people’s response against the long silence and authoritarian tendencies.
The chief adviser said that this election and the July referendum on the National Charter will determine the future path of Bangladesh. In his words, it is more than choosing public representatives – the people will decide the direction the country will take.
He said that extensive security arrangements have been made to ensure a fair election, and that for the first time, Bangladeshis living abroad are also exercising their right to vote. At the same time, he called for caution against rumors and propaganda, clarifying that power will be transferred to elected representatives after the election.
