The International Crimes Tribunal has issued arrest warrants against former MP Shamim Osman, his son Ayan Osman and 12 others in a case of crimes against humanity committed in Narayanganj Sadar and Fatullah areas during the July uprising.
The judicial panel of the International Crimes Tribunal-1 passed the order on Monday (January 19) after taking cognizance of the allegations. The case alleges that Shamim Osman and his followers used domestic and foreign weapons to suppress the students protesting in the Narayanganj area on July 19 and 21. The charges also mention that the plan to suppress the movement was made at the Narayanganj Club and that weapons were looted from the Rifles Club and the students were attacked.
The document also states that the highest number of killings took place in Narayanganj in July-August and that armed workers of the Awami League and Jubo League were involved in these incidents. Based on these allegations, the case has been accepted for crimes against humanity.
