Five days have passed since a white envelope was taped to the moving vehicle of BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, but the motorcyclist involved has not been identified.
Police said that although CCTV footage from the scene was collected, it was not possible to identify the driver and motorcycle as the visuals were not clear.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Gulshan Police Station OC Rakibul Islam said that although the police did not receive a written complaint from the BNP in this incident, they filed a GD on their own initiative and are continuing the investigation.
According to the police, there was no letter or note inside the white envelope; the envelope was completely empty. The motive for the incident is being investigated.
It is worth noting that the incident occurred on January 14 while Tarique Rahman was in a bulletproof car on his way home from his office in Gulshan area.
