FIFA President Gianni Infantino has expressed optimism about Bangladesh ahead of the World Cup to be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico next year.
In a reply on social media, he said, “Bangladesh can definitely participate in the World Cup one day.”
Infantino said FIFA’s goal is to give new countries a chance on the World Cup stage, citing examples of new teams such as Cape Verde, Curacao, Uzbekistan and Jordan.
The FIFA President said that the country is football-loving and the popularity of football is growing rapidly here, as a reason for optimism about Bangladesh. He also expressed hope that FIFA’s investment in the development of football in Bangladesh will yield positive results in the future.
