US President Donald Trump said that the country’s leadership has expressed interest in holding talks in the context of threats of military action and ongoing massive anti-government protests in Iran. He also said that preparations for the meeting are underway.
Speaking to reporters on Air Force One on Sunday, Trump said Iranian leaders had contacted him and expressed a desire to sit down for talks. He said preparations were being made to host a meeting.
However, at the same time, Trump warned that the United States may have to take necessary steps before the meeting.
Analysts see this comment as a significant indication of the current tensions in Iran-US relations.
