The Pay Commission is moving towards finalizing the 9th National Pay Scale. It has been decided to finalize the ratio of minimum and maximum salary in the salary structure at 1:8. At the same time, three proposals are being considered for determining the minimum basic salary of 16,000, 17,000 and 21,000 taka.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the full commission on pay scale at the secretariat on Thursday. Commission sources said that although three ratios of 1:8, 1:10 and 1:12 were initially proposed, a consensus was reached on the 1:8 ratio. The issue of minimum salary will be finalized in the next meeting.
The commission believes that the salary of the highest grade will be determined according to the salary of the lowest grade in the proposed 1:8 ratio, which will bring balance to the salary structure.
