The news of the attendance of millions of people at the funeral of former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has been widely reported in the international media. Khaleda Zia’s funeral prayer was held at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building and Manik Mia Avenue at around 3 pm on Wednesday (December 31). She was later buried next to the grave of her husband, former President Ziaur Rahman.
The British media outlet BBC reported that a large crowd expressed their condolences at the state funeral of Bangladesh’s first female prime minister. Qatar-based Al Jazeera reported that the former leader was bid farewell through a public gathering.

India’s Times of India reported that a large crowd had gathered at the funeral. Anandabazar Patrika wrote that Khaleda Zia’s last rites were performed amidst a huge crowd.
It is worth noting that Khaleda Zia, who passed away on Tuesday morning, was buried on Wednesday afternoon. Earlier, the funeral procession began at 3:03 pm on Manik Mia Avenue and ended within two minutes.
