Bangladesh has expressed deep concern over the recent incidents of killings and violence against minorities in India, calling for an impartial investigation into these incidents and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
On Sunday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson SM Mahbubul Alam said that incidents of brutal killings, lynchings, arbitrary detentions and disruption of religious ceremonies against various minorities, including Muslims and Christians, in India are worrying. He cited examples of recent violence in various states including Odisha, Bihar and Kerala.
The spokesperson added that Bangladesh views the incidents of violence against Christians on the occasion of Christmas as hate crimes and targeted crimes. He expressed hope that the relevant authorities in India will conduct an impartial investigation into these incidents and bring those responsible to justice.
He said that protecting the security and dignity of minority communities is a fundamental responsibility of every state, which everyone should fulfill.
