All the assets seized from four flats owned by former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed and her family in Dhaka’s Gulshan have been deposited in the Chief Advisor’s Relief Fund. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has completed the transfer on the orders of the court.
On Monday (December 22), ACC Director General (Administration) Akhter Hossain told reporters that the seized items have been deposited in the relief fund as per the court order.
ACC sources said the list ranged from luxury items to everyday necessities and trivial items – televisions, refrigerators, ovens, dishwashers, mattresses, pots and pans, plates and glasses, clothes and food, and even mosquito bats.
Earlier, the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge’s Court had ordered that samples of auctionable items should be preserved and perishable items, used and unused clothes and household items in the flats should be deposited in the relief warehouse. This transfer was made in implementation of that order.
