The BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman will be included in the voter list on December 27, the party has said. BNP standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed gave this information after a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin at the Election Building in Agargaon on Monday (December 22).
A BNP delegation participated in the meeting held at 3 pm. Election Commissioner Rahmanel Machud and the EC’s senior secretary were also present. The BNP delegation also included the Chairperson’s advisor Ismail Zabiullah and former Acting Election Commission Secretary Dr. Mohammad Zakaria.
Party sources said that Tarique Rahman will return to the country after a long time on December 25. He is starting the process of becoming a voter as part of his preparations to participate in the upcoming national parliamentary elections. However, after the schedule is announced, the approval of the Election Commission will be required to include his name in the voter list.
