Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed in various important areas of Dhaka to maintain law and order in the capital, focusing on the return of the body of Inqilab Manch spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi to the country.
On Friday (December 19) afternoon, BGB Public Relations Officer Md. Shariful Islam said in a message that additional security has been strengthened in sensitive areas of the city, including Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Karwan Bazar, and Hotel Intercontinental.
He said that Osman Hadi’s body is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka around 6 pm on Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-585. BGB has been deployed in the airport area – the civil aviation zone, domestic terminal and internal roundabout – to avoid any possible unpleasant situation.
The situation in the capital has been tense since the news of Hadi’s death. In that context, law enforcement has increased its presence on various roads and important locations in the city.
It is worth mentioning that Sharif Osman Hadi was seriously injured after being shot from a moving motorcycle during an election rally in Bijoynagar in the capital on December 12. He died on Thursday (December 18) night while undergoing treatment in Dhaka and Singapore.
