An aide has provided important information to the court about the escape route and preparations of Faisal Karim Masud, the main accused in the case of the assassination attempt on Dhaka Inquilab Manch convener Sharif Osman Hadi.
During the remand hearing in the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam of Dhaka on Wednesday, Md. Nuruzzaman Nomani (Ujjwal) said that on the day of the incident, Faisal rented a private car and changed its destination three times on the same day. First, the car was sent to in front of Matsya Bhaban, then to BNP Bazar in Agargaon and finally to Kalampur in Dhamrai. From there, Faisal went to Mymensingh by car, he said.
Nuruzzaman said that although they had been in contact via WhatsApp for the past nine months regarding car rental, they had not met in person for three months before the incident. On the day of the incident, Faisal said he wanted to rent a car citing family reasons. Since he did not have his own car, he arranged for a friend’s car.
After the hearing, the court granted Nuruzzaman a three-day remand.
It is worth mentioning that on December 12, Sharif Osman Hadi was shot at from a moving rickshaw in Bijoynagar in the capital. He was seriously injured after being shot in the head. In the case filed in this incident, the police have identified Faisal Karim Masud and motorcycle driver Alamgir Hossain as the main suspected shooters.
