Professor Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor to the interim government, met the family of Sharif Osman Hadi, the spokesperson of the Inqilab Mancha and a potential independent candidate for Dhaka-8 constituency, who was shot in Dhaka. The meeting was held at the state guest house Jamuna on Saturday morning.
The chief advisor spoke to some leaders of the Inqilab Manch, including Hadi’s brother Abu Bakr Siddique and sister Masuma, and assured the family members that the government was taking all measures to ensure Hadi received the best possible treatment. He said that if his physical condition required, advanced treatment would also be arranged outside the country.
Hadi’s sister said in the interview that Hadi, who was raised in patriotism and revolutionary spirit since childhood, is the father of a child. He is the support of the family and an active activist in the July Movement. She also mentioned that his speedy recovery is important for the country.
Inquilab Manch leaders demanded the swift arrest and trial of those involved in the attack and called for strengthening the security of activists involved in the July movement. The chief advisor said that a full investigation is underway to identify the entire gang behind the attack and the culprits will be brought to justice quickly.
Advisors on law, environment, industry, and national security were also present at the meeting.
