The air ambulance hired to transport former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia to London will land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport a little after 8am on Tuesday (December 9). Airport authorities have given permission for the flight to land, confirmed Executive Director SM Ragib Samad.
The Civil Aviation Authority said landing has been allowed between 8 am and 8:30 pm. The ambulance is expected to leave Dhaka around 9 pm, but the schedule may change based on the medical team’s assessment.
It is learned that an air ambulance has been rented from Germany’s FAI Aviation Group under the sponsorship of the Qatari government.
Khaleda Zia has been admitted to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka since November 23. Specialist doctors from London and China are involved in her treatment. Although preparations are underway to take her to London for advanced treatment, the medical board has not yet made a final decision.
Earlier, on January 7 this year, Khaleda Zia went to London for treatment in an air ambulance provided by the Emir of Qatar and returned to the country in May four months later under the same arrangement.
