After returning to Bangladesh to monitor the condition of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia at the capital’s Evercare Hospital, Tarique Rahman’s wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman went to her mother’s house in Dhanmondi. She arrived in Dhaka from London on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight on Thursday night.
After landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10:45 am on Friday, he went directly to Evercare Hospital. There, he spoke to Khaleda Zia’s medical team and inquired about the progress of her treatment.
Meanwhile, the special air ambulance that was supposed to be sent by the Emir of Qatar is being delayed in reaching Dhaka due to technical reasons. BNP said the plane could arrive on Saturday at the latest. There is a plan to take Khaleda Zia to London on Sunday if doctors allow it.
Special prayers were held at mosques across the country after Friday prayers to pray for Begum Zia’s recovery. Senior leaders including party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir participated in the prayer mahfil organized in Naya Paltan. He said, “We will be ready if the air ambulance arrives. However, the final decision will be taken by the doctors.”
