BNP has expanded its list of candidates ahead of the 13th National Parliament election. The party has finalized candidates for 36 new seats in addition to the previously announced 237.
Party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir released the list at a press conference at the chairperson’s office in Gulshan on Thursday (December 4).
Among the newly announced candidates are Dr. Abdus Salam in Thakurgaon-2, AKM Kamruzzaman in Dinajpur-5, Zahidul Islam Dhalu in Naogaon-5 and Md. Anwarul Islam in Natore-3. In the south-western region, M Iqbal Hossain in Jessore-5, Monirul Islam in Narail-2 and Amir Ejaz Khan in Khulna-1 have been nominated.
In the central region, Sultan Salahuddin Tuku is contesting in Tangail-5, Abu Wahab Akhand Walid is contesting in Mymensingh-4, and Mazharul Islam and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Iqbal are contesting in two seats in Kishoreganj. Hamidur Rahman, Habirur Rashid, Sheikh Rabiul Alam and MM Jahangir Hossain are contesting in four seats in Dhaka.
Ariful Haque Chowdhury (Sylhet-4) and Reza Kibria (Habiganj-1) will contest the election in Sylhet division. Mustafa Kamal Pasha, Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury, Abu Sufian, Nazmul Mustafa Amin and Alamgir Mahfuz Ullah Farid have been nominated in Chittagong region.
On November 3, BNP announced candidates for 237 seats in the first phase. Later, the party suspended nominations for Madaripur-1. Nadira Akhter has been nominated for that seat in the new list.
