Moktar Hossain, a suspect in the murder of Youth League leader Golam Kibria in Pallabi, Dhaka, has died while in custody of the Detective Branch (DB). His death was confirmed on Friday (November 21) at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
According to DMP Deputy Commissioner of Media, Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Moktar was arrested on Thursday (November 20) during a DB operation. He attempted to flee but was intercepted by locals, who injured him. Authorities recovered eight rounds of pistol ammunition from a rickshaw garage in Pallabi linked to him.
After being taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital due to illness, Moktar was returned to the DB office following initial treatment. On Friday morning, when he did not respond to being called for food, he was taken back to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
A three-member investigation committee has been formed under Additional Police Commissioner Md. Sarwar, with instructions to submit a report within the stipulated timeframe.
