On Thursday (20 November) morning, little fighter Arian finally returned home with a smile, after being discharged from the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Arian had been admitted in July with burns covering more than 40 percent of his body after the tragic Milestone air crash. For the first eight days, he had to be kept on a ventilator to keep him alive. During those agonizing days in the Burn ICU and ICU, doctors had almost lost hope. But Arian did not give up.
Over 122 days, he underwent a total of 34 surgeries—each one a new battle. From skin grafts to multiple reconstructions, every procedure carried the risk of death. Yet, with Arian’s fierce will to survive and the relentless efforts of doctors, he walked out of the hospital on his own feet.
At a press briefing held in the hospital’s conference room that morning, Arian’s mother could not hold back her tears. “I thought I would never get my son back,” she said. “As long as he wasn’t home, our door stayed shut. Today, it has opened again.”
Dr. Muhammad Nasir Uddin, director of the institute, said, “Arian’s case was one of the most challenging of our careers. It was not just physical burns—he suffered immense psychological trauma as well. We had to heal him both physically and mentally.”
He added that Arian had undergone 34 surgeries of various types during treatment, and he required ventilator support in the ICU for eight days, including three consecutive days.
Dr. Nasir Uddin said the hospital will provide all follow-up instructions and care for Arian after his discharge.
