Dhaka, Wednesday – Two top militants have been arrested by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-4) in connection with the murder case of Golam Kibria, Youth League member secretary of Pallabi Police Station.
The arrested are Sohel alias ‘Pata Sohel’ and Buk Pora Sujon, identified as the planners and executors of the killing.
RAB-4 Media Officer Major Mohammad Abrar Faisal Sadi confirmed that the arrests were made following an investigation into the murder that occurred on Monday evening at a hardware shop in C Block, near the old Pallabi police station.
Kibria’s wife, Sabiha Akter Dina, filed a murder case at Pallabi Police Station on Tuesday, naming 11 individuals as suspects, including Joni Bhuiyan, Sohel alias Pata Sohel, Sohag alias Kallu, Masum alias Bhagina Masum, and Rokon. Additionally, 7–8 unidentified individuals were also named.
The FIR states that Pata Sohel and Bhagina Masum gave prior instructions for the killing, after which Joni Bhuiyan, Sohag, and Rokon entered the shop and fired at Kibria in multiple parts of his body, causing his death. The suspects fled the scene immediately afterward.
With these arrests, law enforcement has apprehended two of the three main suspects, while the investigation continues.
