A series of low-intensity explosive devices—commonly known as cocktails—went off at three separate locations in Dhaka on Saturday evening: near the BRTA office in Mirpur, under the Mirpur-12 metro station, and beneath the Madhubag Bridge in Hatirjheel. A motorcycle caught fire following the blast in Hatirjheel, but no casualties were reported in any of the incidents.
According to police, the first explosion occurred around 5:30 p.m. near the BRTA office. Authorities have yet to identify who was behind the attack. Shortly afterward, at about 6:15 p.m., another device was detonated beneath the Madhubag Bridge in Hatirjheel, sparking a fire in a parked motorcycle. Officers on the scene say an investigation is under way.
The final incident took place around 7:20 p.m. under the Mirpur-12 metro station, where unidentified individuals detonated two devices before fleeing.
Police units from multiple stations responded quickly, increasing patrols and launching parallel investigations to determine the motive and perpetrators behind the coordinated blasts.
