The bodies of two youths named Rana and Shuvo, who went missing after a trawler sank in the Meghna River in the Sonamoyi area of Baidyorbazar Union in Sonargaon, Narayanganj, have been recovered by the diving team of the Naval Police and Sonargaon Fire Service.
Their bodies were recovered from the bottom of the Meghna River at 2 pm on Friday (November 14). The deceased Roni Sardar (34) is the son of Ali Sardar of Bisarat village in Bandar upazila of Barisal, and the deceased Shuvo (19) is the son of Swapan Mridha of the same area.
It is learned that the trawler sank around 3:30 pm on Thursday and the two youths Rana and Shuvo who were in the trawler went missing in the Meghna River.
Upon receiving the news, the Naval Police and Fire Service diving team tried to rescue them for two hours but could not find them. On Friday, the Sonargaon Fire Service diving team and the naval police jointly recovered the bodies of the two missing youths after a three-hour search and took them to Sonargaon Police Station.
Baidyerbazar Naval Police Outpost In-charge (Inspector) Mahbubur Rahman said that the trawler sank in the middle of the river. After the two youths in the trawler went missing, their bodies were recovered on Friday afternoon and taken to Sonargaon Police Station.
Sonargaon Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Md. Rashedul Hasan Khan said that the bodies of the two missing youths have been recovered from the Meghna River. Since there are no complaints, the bodies have been handed over to their families without an autopsy.
