Md. Abdus Salam Bapari has been appointed as the new Managing Director (MD) of Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA).
The official notification was issued on November 11 by the Local Government Division under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives.
According to the Water Supply and Sewerage Authority Act, 1996, Section 28(2), Abdus Salam Bapari has been approved by the government to serve as MD of Dhaka WASA for a three-year term.
Before this appointment, Abdus Salam Bapari was serving as the Additional Chief Engineer of Dhaka WASA.
Previously, Md. Shahjahan Mia held the position of MD until October 30 of this year. He was also serving as the Administrator of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC). On that day, he was transferred to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief as Additional Secretary.
Earlier, on February 13, Shahjahan Mia was appointed as DSCC Administrator, and on May 18, he was assigned the role of MD of Dhaka WASA.
